Paddington, London falls under the W2 postcode, along with neighbours Bayswater and Westbourne Green. It was made famous by the fictional Peruvian bear, named after Paddington Station. However, the origins of its name dates back to the 10th century when it was originally written as “Padintune”, and a number of historians claim that it was an Anglo-Saxon settlement.

Paddington is located in Zone 1 in the Borough of Westminster in Central West London. It is situated to the west of Marylebone and the north of Hyde Park, and covers the postcode W2.
Famous Past Residents
Royal princes William, Harry and George were all born here, as was Princess Charlotte. Poet Robert Browning lived here and scientist Sir Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin here in his laboratory at St Mary’s Hospital.
Shops and Amenities
More than a decade of investment has led to new ultra-modern housing and office buildings and the Paddington Waterside project, which has transformed the area around the canal into a thriving hub of restaurants, shops and green spaces.

The West End’s theatres, cinemas and restaurants are all a short walk away. There is an Odeon Cinema on Edgware Road near Marble Arch, and a museum in Alexander Fleming’s old laboratory in St Mary’s Hospital. A disused Royal Mail sorting office has been turned into a performance space.

There are National Rail services towards the West Country as well as the Heathrow Express for the airport.
